    SRSH Development Manager

    Fulltime | £18,000 per annum | Starting summer 2011 | Oxford

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual to support our rapidly-developing network of student groups.

Do you want a job that offers you independence? Would you like some responsibility? Do you want to make a real difference? Would you like to be able to see the impact of your efforts?

SRSH are looking for a full-time staff member to support our project in the Oxford office. We have been running for 20 months now and to date we have managed the projected entirely with volunteer support. The time has come: we need a staff member. SRSH works with 11 projects around the country, supporting over 80 volunteers. We plan to expand to a further 10 universities in the coming year and hope to dramatically increase the impact our organisation has upon student life. If you would like to get involved in the heart of this radical development, please get in touch!

We are looking for someone who is capable of taking responsibility. We need someone who is organised and efficient. You need to be capable of working well with other students and able to motivate and support them in their voluntary roles. We need someone who can help us take the idea of SRSH to a bigger stage, who can help us speak to universities about our work and negotiate support from student services. You need to be confident and responsible.

An introduction to working with SRSH

This role is an excellent and exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to work with a relatively new project as it develops and expands. You will be working with a project that has a significant positive impact on university-aged people with mental health problems. Based in the dynamic and well established Student Hub office, you will be working alongside a team of enthusiastic people working with a range of student oriented charities. You will be able to build up a strong working relationship with the dedicated project directors as they provide guidance and day-to-day support. This role will greatly assist your personal and professional development, and is a fantastic opportunity for a new graduate to get a foot into the charities sector.

    Who are we?
We are a fast-growing organisation working in UK universities to transform students’ experiences of mental health provision. SRSH enables student volunteers to set up student-led support groups for peers who have disordered eating, in places where ‘official’ support is sadly. We aim to provide a ‘safety-net’ for all those who are unable to access medical services. Further, our groups act as an informal ‘add on’ to treatment. It is SRSH’s firm believe that this support needs to be offered, and will need to continue to be necessary until there is a radical improvement to mental health provision for those with eating disorders in the UK.

    The story so far
Our first support group was set up by the SRSH CEO in Nottingham University in 2007. In autumn 2009, SRSH began expanding by setting up groups in various universities. SRSH is now working with 11 different universities and is still expanding. The development of the project to date has been undertaken by the two project directors, who are currently full time students. In order to continue what is fantastic and beneficial work, we are looking for a dedicated employee who can give the project the time it needs as SRSH grows.

SRSH’s new home at the Oxford Hub   This year, the Oxford Hub – where our new recruit will be based – is moving to 16-17 Turl Street, in the heart of Oxford’s city centre. Oxford Hub’s new home will not only house the staff team, but offer a café-bar-restaurant, events space, a library, lounge and meeting rooms.
