Group Sessions
Individuals attending SRSH group sessions should know that they can expect a high standard wherever they are at university. All SRSH groups must be run to the same guidelines to maintain their affiliation with SRSH.
SRSH group sessions must be fun following the SRSH ground rules:
Group sessions should be run
Group Facilitators must keep SRSH informed of all organisational details (time, date and location) of group sessions.
Who can attend group sessions?
Group sessions are run under the SRSH confidentiality policy.
Group sessions are run by a minimum of two fully trained Group Facilitators.
It is the responsibility of Group Facilitators to report group statistics after each group session.
Group statistics report the number of people attending the group session, the gender of attendees, the proportion of attendees under 25 and the proportion of attendees that are students.

Confidentiality and anonymity, we asks that anything said in a group session, stays at the session

The group offers a supportive and non-judgemental ear

The group is a place for conversation and a place for silence.

The group adopts a pro-recovery focus.

We ask people to avoid discussing numbers, especially weights or calorific figures and to be aware that others may find some topics triggering.

We encourage a focus on feelings rather than behaviours.

We ask people to avoid discussing specific dietary intake or food groups
Group sessions should be run

In a private and accessible venue

At a pre-advertised time.

Who can attend group sessions?

Group sessions are run for students and young people (aged 18 – 25) who feel they have issues with disordered eating. Individuals do not need a formal diagnosis to attend group sessions and do not need a referral.

Friends may attend group sessions to offer support at the wish of an attendee and with the consent of other attendees.

Other individuals may not attend group sessions, especially individuals under the age of 18, carers (without an express invitation for an attendee), researchers, media or interested students.
