Partake in research.
Below are several studies working to develop our understanding of eating disorders and the effective treatments and interventions for eating disorders. If you feel able to take part, your contributions are always greatly appreciated. Your contribution may be exactly what is needed to help improve treatment for others with eating disorders or prevent young people developing eating disorders in future!
Peter Musiat...
Peter Musiat, a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, is carrying out a study looking at how student run-self-help groups can help students with eating disorders and how such self-help groups can be improved and tailored to the needs of students. The questionnaire study aims to find out how people experience self-help groups, what people like or dislike about them and what they find most or least unhelpful. Felicity Cowdrey
Felicity Cowdrey, a PhD student at the Department of Psychiatry in Oxford is running a study investigating how women recovered from anorexia nervosa process rewarding stimuli and the effect that preoccupation can have on this. She is looking for participants who have recovered from anorexia nervosa to come to the department for 60 minutes to complete a computer task, a pen and paper task as well as a pack of questionnaires. The ultimate aim of her research is to gain a better understanding of the processes which underpin anorexia nervosa with the aim of developing novel strategies to augment existing treatments.
