From the 7th of October to the 13th October is Mental health awareness week.
We are asking you just to talk about why student mental health matters. Mental health is often something that gets pushed to the bottom of agendas because there are rarely front page grabbing alarm bells. But it is a problem that is not going away. If anything the state of student mental health is in decline and the support available for students is not keeping up with demand. We’d like to ask you to take a moment over this week to talk with your committees or the people you work with about why student mental health matters. We’d like you to think about whether there is enough being done at your university to support students with mental health problems and make sure they feel able to stay in education. We’d like you to talk about whether there is enough being done to help students understand the value of looking after their own mental health and the importance of talking to others when they have concerns. |
